9 December 2022
Norland was featured in an episode of BBC Two’s QI on Friday 9 December as the answer to ‘Where is the best place in the UK to get a degree to be sure of getting a job?’
Sandi Toksvig hosted the panel show alongside comedians Alan Davies, Susan Calman, Maisie Adam and Josh Widdicombe. It is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, with Norland being featured 23 minutes into the programme.
The episode revealed Norland as having a “100% guaranteed employment opportunity” upon graduation through Norland’s dedicated in-house agency, where jobs have outnumbered graduates looking for over 130 years.
Norland students were described as “Mary Poppins mixed with a little bit of James Bond.” The Norland curriculum includes childcare, self-defence, and paparazzi avoidance techniques alongside neuroscience, child psychology and Makaton and is based on the teachings of founder Emily Ward, who began the Norland Institute (as it was then known) in 1892.
