Norland announces first call for papers for new educare research journal
9 September 2021
Norland has issued its first call for papers for the Norland Educare Research Journal (ISSN pending) which will launch in 2022.
The international double-blind peer reviewed journal will be published twice annually online and will be open access, offering free-of-charge publication to researchers/authors and free access of papers for readers, reflecting Norland’s commitment to democratise knowledge dissemination.
The journal is a tribute to the legacy of the educational pioneer Emily Ward, the founder of Norland, who recognised the significance of educare. Emily Ward envisioned education and care as indistinguishable ingredients of childcare by arguing that young children should be cared for by trained professionals and their care should be structured and centred around the child, offered in a loving and nurturing environment.
The journal focuses on research aiming at advancing and enhancing the knowledge base for professional practices and policies for home-based childcare.
The journal welcomes papers exploring contemporary issues pertaining to the educare of young children, especially papers which offer unique perspectives and convey thought leadership substantiated by rigorous and credible research and argumentation. It accepts papers that consider educare from discipline-specific and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Papers may report empirical research, systematic literature reviews and scoping studies, philosophical positions, critical reviews and commentaries, and methodological approaches.

The deadline for the submission of an extensive abstract of 500 words is 1 November 2021.
