Bath community invited to join Norland Sewing Bee to create Grenfell Memorial Quilt (The Bath and Wiltshire Parent)

The Bath and Wiltshire Parent reported on Norland’s work on the Grenfell Memorial Quilt project in commemoration of the tragic event.

The Norland Community Sewing Bee has been participating in the Grenfell Memorial Quilt project, with the staff and student team working together with the wider community to create a 12ft x 12ft panel that will make up part of the Grenfell Memorial Quilt.

The article details how sewing lecturers Jo Price and Kate Jaeger have been arranging and attending weekly sessions at the Bath Central Library to encourage community participation.

Norland’s participation in this commemorative project highlights the importance of working alongside the local community for the Grenfell Memorial Quilt project, the aim of which is to create a quilt the same height as the Grenfell Tower to display in a prominent location to mark the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy, in 2027.

The team who are working on the project were honoured to welcome The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Dine Romero, to the Bath Central Library to find out more about the work on the quilt and to participate in sewing her own addition to the project.
